LuLu's Lifelines

We are all in this together

Don’t Be Fooled

If you have the dubious pleasure of interacting with someone with substance abuse, may I caution you to stand your ground with love when they look you in the eye and lie. Recently while taking a late evening phone call from someone who has been estranged from the tribe, I literally saw them snort something off the table and sit back and continue talking with their eyes closed until the phone went dead. I can only assume they nodded off at that point. The next day I politely confronted them with this truth and they denied it ever happened.  The righteous indignation with which they protested this event was compelling. It almost makes one doubt what they saw. So sad to realize that until they are ready nothing you say will make a difference.

The biggest and worse lies are the ones you tell yourself!

  1. Lifestyle choices are essential and I appreciate your thoughts because denial is difficult to understand.
I agree we can change our reactions to the situation.
Safe practice is to accept the situation as not your responsibility to change others. Each of us must learn to understand the difference between observations
And reacting. Let’s connect with ourselves and healthy conversation with others. Thanks Lulu for sharing a platform
