It happened yesterday….a coworker was sharing how she just traveled out West to attend her brother’s wedding. He had an alcohol issue but the family gathered to show love and happiness for his special day. Three days later he was found dead on his honeymoon by his bride. Somehow during the night he had passed in his sleep. He was a young father and a professional. He was a drinker…had been in rehab recently…she received the phone call first day back at work after the wedding and we all witnessed her shock and the pain on her face upon hearing the news. He was in a foreign country and the body needed to be returned home. I phoned a family member to ask about the time he had to have his best friends body returned after an overdose in the same country, so I could be of some help in this matter. Long story short…the whole thing triggered me as I recently lost my mother and have a family member struggling with addiction and I fear for her imminent passing on a daily basis. It also triggered my family member because of the painful memories of losing his best friend as well. Yes we ALL are connected and every human’s actions cause a ripple effect for the tribe of humanity. We are not an island unto ourselves. Please get healthy for yourself and for ALL of us!
